A camera for the masses, it featured date imprinting and a body and exterior made of reinforced plastic.
Although similar in size as the Canonet G-III series, it was 200 g lighter due to the reinforced plastic. The camera had a 40mm f/2.8 lens, fully automatic program EE exposure control, date mechanism on the lens barrel, and a convenient date on/off switch. The date could also be imprinted on the lower right corner of the photograph.
